| About the Riverbank Banjo Band |
The Riverbank Banjo Band has been making music in the
Hudson Valley since 1979. We are a member-run, non-profit organization
that has been donating our profits to local charities since our
inception. Our all-volunteer group currently has over thirty active
members and features banjos and a variety of other instruments. Our
main repertoire features old time standards and favorites from the early 20th century. In addition, we
enjoy mixing in a little country, blues and gospel on occasion.
Our mission is threefold:
- to raise funds for charitable purposes
- to encourage and promote the flourishing of banjo music as a traditional American art form, and by doing so, bring enjoyment to our audiences and musicians alike
- to provide a forum within which banjo players and other musicians can practice, grow, and improve their skills and abilities
